Important message concerning the reopening of the MRC
A Message from the President

Today is June 20, the day we would normally be presenting what is affectionately known as "Rowlstice" — our very popular open house that welcomes hundreds of Montrealers each year, and has given so many their very first taste of rowing on the water. It's also a chance for our club members to celebrate the mid-season with family and friends, a bbq and a spectacular sunset.

Although we are unable to gather in the usual way this year, I wanted to give you some good news to think about as you watch the sun go down tonight. Although we are still awaiting official word, we have received very strong indications that the city and the Société du Parc Jean-Drapeau have reached an agreement that will allow for the re-opening of the Olympic Basin by the end of this month.

As you know, it has been a very long and frustrating spring. However it's also been a very affirming one: your strength and generosity as a community have been truly inspiring and motivating, and I thank each and every one of you who has offered encouragement and help. There are still many difficult challenges ahead, but I know we have the resilience to overcome them.

Thanks for your patience and I look forward to providing you with more updates very soon.
Scott Tresham, President
